I have been thinking about this for years and i think i am ready to
propose an alternative to conventional aa. The meeting place will
be set up like a church, complete with pews, an altar, and stained
glass windows with pictures of Bill Wilson, the founder of aa. The
chairperson will be the clergy and the big book will be our Bible.
I propose to shorten the 12 steps to 10, in line with the ten
commandments. We will meet on Saturday nights, which is in
line with the Jewish Sabbath. The chairperson will be known as
'Brother Recoverer' and instead of serving coffee, we shall serve
grape juice, symbolizing the sacrificial wine that we cannot
drink.
Sponsors will be known as Deacons and will urge members to
pray to Bill Wilson for strength and guidence in their fight against
the great Satan of our group, the bottle. The symbol for our
movement will be an empty, upside down Martini glass with
a shriveled olive and a drop of blood on the rim, symbolizing
the pain of alcoholism and the fight against this public enemy
number one.
I am attempting to raise money to open the first Temple of
recovery as we speak. If you wish to donate or would like
additional information, feel free to ask.
In Bills name,
Scott
