among writer's favorite analogies. I'll give it a try...

When I was homeless and living on the streets, there came a time I
decided it would be fun to try and pay all my bills.
"You're homeless and without a job! Why are you paying your
bills?"
"Well, my credit rating."
"Haw, haw " people would laugh.
It was something to keep me moving, to keep me alive. Just like a
shark needs to keep moving to live, it urged me on.
